Every year at the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards a charity draw is held to benefit local charities. This is supported by the generosity of the guests at the Awards Dinner, who can really make a difference to the chosen charities’ aims.
Andy’s, at St Andrew’s Hospice, provides free specialist care and support for babies, children and young people up to the age of 25 with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, from diagnosis onwards.
We provide support across Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding, including palliative care in a friendly home-from-home environment with highly trained and dedicated staff, and we are committed to our vision of ‘Making Each Day Count’.
Palliative care for children and young people is an active and total approach, from the point of diagnosis and throughout all stages of an individual family’s journey. It embraces physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements, and focuses on the enhancement of quality of life and support for the entire family.
Care can be introduced at any point in a child’s life, and it is completely individual. Some children may require palliative care from birth, while others need support as their condition deteriorates.
It is important to understand that the term hospice is from the same linguistic root as ‘hospitality’. It can be traced back to medieval times, when it referred to a place of shelter and rest for weary or ill travellers on a long journey. Here at Andy’s, we provide a space of rest and respite for families on their journey and as such, we are a bright, fun, colourful and welcoming place to be.
If your business is able to donate a prize for the raffle, this would be gratefully received. Please contact the Chamber office: T: 01472 342981 E: firstname.lastname@example.org
